You want to sit, uninterrupted, to finish that essay or journal entry--or novel?--that’s been living with you for months. Maybe years. But in the midst of the chaos of everyday life, you never have the time.

You want to unwind with a hot cup of tea or a chilled glass of wine, your favorite journal, and most comfortable pen. But with endless distractions and mile-long to-do lists, you never find the time.

You want to sit down with a piece of paper and your most comfortable pen. You want enough time to let thoughts flow freely from a calm space. But with hundreds of responsibilities pulling you in a thousand directions, you never find the time.

Self care is about more than bubble baths and pedicures. It’s about finding the time. It's about restoring your energy to be present for yourself and others.

Self-care is about finding time for the things that bring you joy. The things that you care about. The things that fill your empty cup.

And "Collective Care" is the amazing community that’s created when we all start pouring from a full cup.

Collective Care

Scribente Maternum is a community of writers serving in the ever-important maternal role. It is a space where creativity, connection and care are nourished and cultivated. It is the call to action to do something even bigger through collective care because of our writing.

Together, we explore our emotions as parents, provide space for ourselves to recharge, find space to write and create, make room to connect with other writers, and engage in a plan to carry what we experience forward through personal and collective action.

"Invitation to Brave Space"

Mickey ScottBey Jones

Together we will create brave space.
Because there is no such thing as a “safe space” —
We exist in the real world.
We all carry scars and we have all caused wounds.
In this space
We seek to turn down the volume of the outside world,
We amplify voices that fight to be heard elsewhere,
We call each other to more truth and love.
We have the right to start somewhere and continue to grow.
We have the responsibility to examine what we think we know.
We will not be perfect.
This space will not be perfect.
It will not always be what we wish it to be.
But
It will be our brave space together,
and
We will work on it side by side.
